Brookfield Food Pantry Seeks Donations For Thanksgiving Program

BROOKFIELD, Conn. -- The Brookfield Food Pantry provides needy area families with food, house supplies, and clothing for cold weather. It also provides food baskets for families who would not otherwise be able to celebrate Thanksgiving.

It's never too soon to make a donation. The Food Pantry  gratefully accepts donations of nonperishable food items and household supplies. 

Contact the Social Services office if you want to volunteer to hold a food drive for the pantry. 

The food pantry also accepts grocery store gift cards and financial donations: checks should be made payable to Brookfield Social Services Emergency Fund with a notation made to "Food Pantry."

Here are items needed by the Brookfield food pantry: 

  • Cereal
  • Coffee
  • Condiments: ketchup, mayo, mustard and salad dressing
  • Tissues and toilet paper
  • Cleaning and laundry supplies, dish detergent, paper towels
  • Toiletries: toothpaste, toothbrushes, floss, bar soap, shampoo and
  • conditioners, deodorant and disposable razors
  • Canned soup, ravioli, chili, tuna and stews
  • Spam and any canned meats (chicken, turkey)
  • Beans: baked, black, kidney, white and pinto
  • Mac and cheese
  • Pasta sauces

The Brookfield Food Pantry is located in Brookfield Town Hall at 100 Pocono Road. Donated items can be left in the Food Pantry Drop during business hours.

The Brookfield Social Services is kicking off its planning for the holidays with its Thanksgiving Basket Program, Holiday Gift Program and Holiday Shopping Table Program. Call Amy at 203-775-5308 or email adiezemann@brookfieldct.gov for details.

The food pantry provides and emergency supply of food for residents in need. The pantry is open Tuesdays from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., on the third Thursday evening each month and other times by appointment. 

Eligibility for the Food Pantry is determined by an intake at the Social Service office, where workers will ask the resident to verify their identity and residency, income, assets and financial situation.
