Metro-North service was blocked on the Danbury Branch on Monday afternoon when an orange moving van got stuck on a hump in the tracks at Long Ridge Road at the West Redding train service. It took a tow truck and props under the wheels to get the 18-wheeler off the tracks in time for rush-hour service.
Six teenagers were seriously injured in a fiery crash when their car slammed into a tree on Route 107 in Redding, police said. Four of the teens attend Joel Barlow High School (two from Easton and two from Redding), one attends Fairfield Warde and the sixth attends a private high school in Fairfield, police said. All are expected to recover but were hospitalized with serious injuries.
Max Antoine, a 33-year-old Stamford resident, was shot at least once in the torso and collapsed on McLevy Green in downtown Bridgeport just after midnight Thursday, police said. He was pronounced dead at the downtown scene. Bridgeport police are investigating but have made no arrests.
A 9-year-old boy from Maine died from injuries he suffered in a three-car accident on I-95 in Westport on Thursday night, police said. Casey Savage was using a seatbelt and riding in the backseat of a car that was rear-ended and pushed into another car, police said. The accident took place near Exit 17 on I-95 northbound in Westport.
Two men were busted on charges of burglarizing a Stamford home Wednesday afternoon after they were spotted in their getaway SUV by an alert Stamford officer, police said. They were identified as Mateo Gallego-Gomez, 23, and Agustin Zoletto, 20.
