Ludwig has spent countless hours volunteering at Brookfield’s food pantry over the years. She became the pantry manager, a volunteer position, in 2010. During her tenure, Ludwig has created regularly scheduled hours for clients, making it more convenient to shop for food items.
She established a relationship with CT Food Bank, allowing the pantry to receive regular weekly deliveries. She has grown the volunteer staff to over 30 people and coordinates the volunteers in stocking the shelves with incoming donations.
The pantry now serves over 300 families, and Ludwig is known to greet clients herself and help them shop in the pantry. Donations to the pantry have continued to increase under Ludwig’s leadership.
She started a Facebook page to communicate the needs of the pantry to supporters, and has introduced the pantry to local school children and scouts, educating them on the needs that exist in Brookfield. Ludwig and her husband Jack have lived in Brookfield since 2000.
