Many of the booths also offered customers the opportunity to participate in Girl Scouts of Connecticut’s Gift of Caring project, "Cookies for Heroes." The program gives customers the opportunity to say “thank you” to local heroes, veterans and active duty members of the military with a box of Girl Scout cookies.
“What better way to thank our service women and men at home, or serving overseas, with a box of their favorite Girl Scout cookies?” said Ann Nunn-Hacku, director of product sales at Girl Scout of Connecticut. “Cookies for Heroes is a great program for our girls and community to show our support for those who protect our country every day.”
Girl Scouts of Connecticut works with several partner organizations to distribute cookies. These organizations include Marine Parents, Molly’s Adopt a Sailor, Home for the Brave, Project Hometown Support, Operation Gift Card, Blue Star Mothers, AMVETS, Marine Corps Auxiliary, Project from the Heart and Veterans of Foreign War.
