Members of the local historical society made a grand showing in period costume.

Local school bands provided the pomp and circumstance with flag-twirlers.

Horses bedecked with red, white and blue ribbons delighted both adults and children.

According to the historical society, Sherman has a long history, dating back to the 1700s.

Known for farming, and its lumber, cider and grain mills, it became a town in 1802.

It was named after Roger Sherman, the only American to sign four important historical documents: the Continental Association of 1774, the Declaration of Independence, the Articles of Confederation, and the U.S. Constitution.
