David Coons of Sherman was involved in a head-on collision with a motor vehicle while riding his motorcycle on Route 39 in Sherman on Jan. 21. Doctors worked furiously to save the man's leg, but surgeons decided Coons would need to have his foot amputated.

The Go Fund Me page said Coons has endured multiple surgeries and has been unable to work. He drives tanker trucks, and could lose his job due to the injuries sustained in the accident.

"Before the accident, David was very much into skate boarding, snowboading, and of course, riding his Harley,'' the Go Fund Me page said. "David is a very hard working father of one to a beautiful daughter of his own named Lilly. He is one to help others before helping himself, because he has one of the biggest hearts you could possibly imagine."
