Brookfield Veteran, 90, Enjoys Honor Flight Trip To Washington

BROOKFIELD Conn. — They returned from the war and then returned to work. In the mid-1940s, there were no special celebrations or messages of thanks. For one Brookfield veteran and 70 others who served, that was remedied recently, according to a story in The News-Times.

Livio Del Biondo, 90, returned from the European theater after serving as a corporal in the U.S. Army's 36th Tank Battalion. Last week, he ventured to Washington, D.C., where he visited the war memorials, according to The News-Times.

Del Biondo and his fellow veterans were there as guests of the Honor Flight Network, a nonprofit organization that works to honor the country's veterans, according to The News-Times.
