You have a new reason to gobble down a few more now that they have been named the favorite dessert in Connecticut.
According to "Reader's Digest," which did a poll of the favorite dessert in every state, Snickerdoodles are the favorite in the Nutmeg state, with plenty of sugar and cinnamon deliciousness.
The sugar-and-spice cookie, again heavy on the cinnamon, is one of the few cookies that doesn't use any vanilla. Go figure.
According to "Reader's Digest, the name "might" come from the German Schneckennudel (“snail noodle”)— or it, they added, might be all made up and someone just likes to snicker while they doodle and eat, well, cookies.
If you haven't sampled one, now is the time to grab a large glass of milk and find a good bakery that sells Snickerdoodles.
Note: Try before you buy. They should be soft, and if you are super lucky, warm.
