New York Times Describes What It's Like To Live In New Fairfield

NEW FAIRFIELD, Conn. — Beautiful waterfronts and great schools: That's how the New York Times summed up New Fairfield, which is the featured town this week in the "Living In" section.

The story offers up some facts on New Fairfield — with 14,000 residents. Five of the town’s 25 square miles are water — the largest is Candlewood Lake. The town is also home to Ball Pond, Squantz Pond State Park and Margerie Lake Reservoir as well as Pootatuck State Forest.

The Times said that New Fairfield was once filled with summer homes, but many have been converted for full-year use. And while the town is largely exurban and residential, there's also a Stop & Shop, Starbucks, Dunkin’ Donuts and locally owned businesses in the center of town at Routes 39 and 37.

The story is about real estate. Houses in the $300,000 to $500,000 range are in demand in town, with waterfront homes going for $1 million to $3 million, the New York Times said.
