Shah's Halal Food in Stamford, which opened late last year, is the kind of restaurant that opens your sinuses when you walk in the door with plenty of flavorful spices and sauces calling to your taste buds.

The owner of the restaurant started with a street cart in Queens and soon moved to a brick and mortar store and before you knew it she now has several locations including one in Norwalk.

Known for their gyros of all kinds, the restaurant also has plenty of other choices from cheesesteaks, yes, cheesesteaks to combo platters with chicken lamb and fish with cucumber and onion salad, black beans, and hummus to falafel over rice, and much more.

Foodies and reviewers seem to all agree the ingredients are super fresh and food flavorful and super spicy -- their own red sauce is often mentioned -- if that's what you want and have offered plenty of five-star reviews.

Prices are super reasonable for what you get and the service is fast and friendly.

So if you are in the mood for a gyro with all the fixings and sauce dripping down your chin, then give Shah's Halal Food in Stamford a shot.

The restaurant is located at 1092 Hope St. in Stamford.

Take-out is available.
