Windsor Police Officer Louis “The Kidd” Clayton leaves behind two young daughters — 2-year-old Zendaya and 3-year-old Zola — his parents, and long-time girlfriend, Olivia.

Windsor Police did not disclose how Clayton died, but the department said he was a dedicated and compassionate public servant.

"Officer Clayton served with dedication and honor, and this loss has profoundly affected our department and community, the department said in a statement. "We ask that everyone respects the privacy of Officer Clayton’s family during this difficult time."

The Windsor Police Union created a GoFundMe to raise money to pay for Clayton's funeral, cover additional expenses for his family, and fund his daughters' education.

As of Monday morning, the campaign has raised over $36,000 of its $40,000 goal.

"(Clayton) was best known for his sense of humor and as being a friend to everyone who ever met him," the GoFundMe said.

Police across the state have posted memorials to the Army veteran. Clayton joined Windsor PD in 2021 after leaving the military.

Clayton died a day after former Windsor Police Chief Kevin Searles passed after a long illness. Searles was 74 years old.
