As everyone prepares Friday for the start of the long weekend, temperatures will hit the mid-80s under partly sunny skies with a chance of showers. But the area will also be under a Air Quality Alert Day as ground level ozone may exceed health standards and muggy conditions prevail.
High temperatures will soar to near 90 degrees on Saturday and into the upper 80s on Sunday — warm enough to hit the beach or an outdoor activity or parade.
A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms will persist through much of the weekend.
By Monday, Memorial Day, showers look likely, mainly before 2 p.m., which may disrupt some parades, barbecues and carnivals. It will be mostly cloudy, with a high near 75 degrees.
