Snow Showers, Wind Gusts Blow Across Bridgeport

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. – Snow was beginning to fall across Fairfield County late Tuesday afternoon, and soon strong winds will be blowing, too, the National Weather Service warns.

Winds will become gusty Tuesday evening, with a Wind Advisory in effect from 8 p.m. Tuesday until 1 p.m. Wednesday for Fairfield County as well as all of coastal Connecticut and the entire metropolitan area.

Snow showers are expected to continue through the Tuesday evening commute. The flurries will be moderate, but could be heavy at times. The snow should subside overnight.

But temperatures are cold enough for the snow to stick to the ground and roadways, creating slippery conditions. Less than an inch of snow accumulation is expected.

West winds will be 10 to 20 mph with gusts of up to 50 mph, with the strongest winds overnight.

Winds could be powerful enough to bring down tree limbs and power lines, the weather service warns. Power outages are possibility across the area.
