FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. — Strong to severe storms could sweep through Fairfield County on Sunday afternoon and evening as rain began to move through the area, according to the National Weather Service.
Flash flooding is possible as rainfall could fall at a rate of 1 inch per hour at times, according to the National Weather Service. Damaging wind gusts, possibly as high as 58 mph, could accompany the storms.
Off-and-on showers are likely Sunday with heavy rain likely and storms possible into the afternoon. There is a 90 percent chance of rain.
The storms could produce small hail, gusty winds and heavy rain. The high temperature will be in the mid-60s.
Showers and a possible thunderstorm will continue into Sunday evening and overnight. Monday will be mostly sunny with a high near 80.
