Updated: FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. — Heavy downpours made for a dreary Friday across Fairfield County. And that was only the start of what may be a wet weekend.

The National Weather Service released these rainfall totals as of 8:30 p.m. Friday, even as drizzle continued into the night:

  • Fairfield: 1.85 inches
  • Stamford: 1.75 inches
  • Brookfield: 1.65 inches
  • Bethel: 1.61 inches
  • Shelton: 1.53 inches
  • Danbury: 1.51 inches
  • New Canaan: 1.43 inches
  • Westport: 1.28 inches
  • Bridgeport Airport: 1.23 inches
  • Danbury: 1.23 inches
  • Stamford: 1.12 inches
  • Norwalk: 0.83 inches
  • Stratford: 0.76 inches

It made for a soaking rain and caused ponding on roads. But it was a bit less than the 2 to 3 inches reported in parts of New Jersey on Friday.

More rain was possible overnight along with patchy fog as temperatures drop into the mid-50s across Fairfield County.

Showers are likely again Saturday, with patchy fog in the morning. It will be mostly cloudy, with a high in the mid-60s. The chance of rain is 60 percent, but it won't be as torrential as it was on Friday.

Temperatures will drop Saturday night into the mid-40s with more rain possible.

The sun could peek out on Sunday, but there is still a 30 percent chance of showers. Otherwise, it will be partly sunny, with a high near 60.

When does the sun come out again? On Monday, just in time for a new week of work.
