A wintry mix began to fall Sunday morning, with snow, sleet and ice in the forecast. A total of 1 to 3 inches of snow expected along the coastline and 3 to 6 inches predicted for inland areas, the Weather Service said. There could also be a coating of ice.
It won't be nearly as bad as Thursday's storm, which dropped a foot of snow or more across Fairfield County, but it will be enough to cause slippery and hazardous travel conditions for most of Sunday , the Weather Service said. Drivers are urged to use caution on slippery roads, and there could be limited visibility at times.
Temperatures will be in the upper 20s, rising to the lower 30s by late afternoon. The chance of precipitation is 100 percent.
Rain and snow will continue until 10 p.m., with a 60 percent chance of snow overnight into early Monday morning.
Monday will be partly sunny, with a high near 35. There is a high wind watch set for 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. with a northwest wind of 21 to 26 mph, with gusts as high as 49 mph. Wind chill values will be between 15 and 20.
Tuesday will be mostly sunny, with a high near 36 degrees.
