The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection has issued an Air Quality Action Day for northern Fairfield County, in effect from noon to 10 p.m. An Air Quality Action Day means that Ground Level Ozone within the region may approach or exceed unhealthy standards. There is a greater likelihood of respiratory symptoms and breathing difficulty in active children and adults and people with respiratory disease.
Additionally, the Storm Prediction Center of the National Weather Service has predicted that the area is at marginal risk for a severe thunderstorm on Tuesday. Damaging winds are the primary threat.
Tuesday could see some isolated showers and thunderstorms, but the day is mostly expected to be mostly sunny. The high will be near 89, but heat index values could be as high as 97. Tuesday night will also see scattered showers and thunderstorms. The chance of precipitation is 50 percent. Otherwise the night will be mostly cloudy, with a low around 70.
There is a 20 percent chance of isolated showers and thunderstorms on Wednesday. It will be cloudy through the mid morning, but then it will gradually clear up, and the high will be near 82. Wednesday night will be mostly clear, with a low around 57.
Thursday will be sunny, with a high near 77. Thursday night will be mostly clear, and the low will be around 59.
