An Excessive Heat Warning is issued when the combination of heat and humidity is expected to make it feel like it's 105 degrees or hotter. The real-feel heat index values will be around 105 to 108 degrees on Sunday with the actual temperature closing in on 95 degrees under sunny skies.

The Excessive Heat Warning extends to all of the metro New York City area and most of Connecticut.

Those with chronic illnesses, seniors and those without air conditioning should take precautions to avoid heat exhaustion and heat stroke.

Residents without air conditioning should visit a mall, take in a movie, visit a museum or find another way to stay cool in the hottest part of the day. Those in need of help or need to find a cooling center, should call 211 or visit 211CT.org .

Sunny skies will start the day Sunday, giving way to afternoon clouds with scattered showers and thunderstorms that could produce gusty winds and heavy rain.

The forecast for Monday calls for continued humidity with a high near 90 and partly sunny skies.

Showers and thunderstorms are likely Tuesday with a high around 85.

Daytime highs are expected to be in the mid-80s throughout the week, but with less humidity than in the last few days.
