Chance Of Snow Showers Through New Year's Eve In Bridgeport

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. — Isolated snow showers could affect visibility on area roads Friday and may return Saturday during New Year's Eve festivities.

Regardless of whether the snow materializes, strong winds are expected to make for chilly temperatures as 2016 comes to a close, according to the National Weather Service.

According to forecasters, isolated snow showers could hit the region after noon Friday, as wind gusts as high as 28 mph bring wind chill temperatures to between 25 and 30 degrees.

The high winds are expected to continue overnight Friday, with 33 mph wind gusts bringing the wind chill temperatures down between 15-20 degrees.

On Saturday, New Year's Eve, high temperatures will reach the mid-30s with wind chill temperatures down near 15 degree at their lowest, according to forecasters, who said there is also a slight chance of snow between 9 p.m. Saturday and 3 a.m. Sunday.

While winds are expected to calm a bit Sunday with high temperatures reaching about 42 degrees, the possibility of snow returns Monday, according to forecasters, who are calling for a 40 percent chance of precipitation before noon.

According to forecasters, the first week of 2017 will likely be wet and cloudy with high temperatures reaching as high as 47 degrees by Wednesday.
