This past winter was 5.8 degrees above normal in Bridgeport, the National Weather Service said. Bridgeport also had above average amounts of precipitation with 2.88 inches above normal, and the 15th highest ever amount of snow with 24.9 inches, or four inches above normal.
But residents can forget about those warm temperatures and brace for a return of winter weather as temperatures begin to drop into the 20s:
- Wednesday: Sunny, with temperatures falling to about 35 degrees by 5 p.m. It will be breezy, with a northwest wind of 17 to 21 mph, with gusts as high as 34 mph.
- Wednesday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 21. and wind chill values of 10 to 20 degrees. Northwest wind 9 to 11 mph, with gusts as high as 23 mph.
- Thursday: Increasing clouds, with a high near 35 and wind chill values between 10 and 20 degrees. West wind 6 to 11 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph.
- Thursday night: Snow likely, mainly after 4 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low of 24 degrees. The chance of precipitation is 60 percent. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.
- Friday: Snow likely, mainly before noon. Cloudy, with a high near 35 degrees. The chance of precipitation is 60 percent. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.
- Friday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low of about 25.
