Rising humidity may give way Wednesday afternoon to scattered thunderstorms, that could affect Fairfield County through the remainder of the workweek, according to the National Weather Service.

The first opportunity for storms is expected after 1 p.m. Wednesday, according to the Weather Service. Otherwise, the day will be sunny and warm, with a high near 84 degrees.

A southerly flow will bring increasing moisture through the day and into Thursday. The warm and humid air will remain across the region Wednesday night into Thursday.

From there, the likelihood that showers and thunderstorms could strike continues to grow, reaching 40 percent Wednesday night through Thursday, according to the Weather Service. Thursday temperatures will again be in the mid-80s.

The chance for significant rain diminishes greatly by Friday morning, leaving behind what forecasters expect will be mostly sunny skies and high temperatures near 91 by noon, according to the Weather Service.

Though Saturday is expected bring sunny skies and high temperatures in the upper 80s, the possibility of rain returns Sunday, according to the weather service.
