There is a 70 percent chance of rain through Tuesday, with cloudy skies through mid-morning in Fairfield County. By noon, temperatures should rise to 50 degrees for the rest of the day.
Temperatures will plunge below freezing by Tuesday night under mostly clear skies.
The sun will continue Wednesday, but it will be much colder, with a high near 38 degrees. Temps will drop below freezing again overnight.
Then a nor'easter with the potential to dump a foot of snow in northern New England will move into the region on Thursday, the National Weather Service said.
Snow is likely before 10 a.m. across Fairfield County, then a mix of rain and snow between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., when it is likely to turn to all rain. It will be cloudy, with a high near 37 degrees. The chance of precipitation is 70 percent, with a half-inch of snow possible.
Friday will be partly sunny, with a high near 35 degrees.
