$32M Resurfacing Project Begins On I-287 Near Fairfield County Border
Work has commenced on a multi-million dollar project that will restore a well-used stretch of highway in Westchester, officials announced. In an announcement this week, New York Gov. Kathy Hochul said a $32.4 million resurfacing project has started on a 5.5-mile stretch of Interstate 287 (Cross Westchester Expressway) between Westchester Avenue in Harrison and Route 1 in Rye. Motorist Flees Scene After Vehicle Fire Forces Closure Of I-95 Stretch In Fairfield County
A motorist fled the scene after the vehicle they were driving caught fire in the middle of I-95 in Fairfield County. The incident took place around 10:25 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 10, when the Fairfield Communications Center received multiple 911 calls reporting a fire on the highway near Exit 19, in Fairfield, said the Fairfield Fire Department. Roadwork is expected to impact service on the Danbury Branch for consecutive weekends as crews complete a road realignment project, the MTA announced. On or about April 1, the City of Danbury will begin replacing the Reservoir Street bridge that crosses over the creek near the Bethel town line. During construction, traffic will be limited to one lane. Portable signals will be installed to control traffic.
