Schools Look At Ways To Prevent Sexual Harassment Among Staff, Faculty
The #MeToo movement has the country taking a fresh look at sexual harassment in workplaces though some protection laws have been in place for decades. New Canaan Public Schools which employs 700 certified staff has "the three Ps" in place, explained the district's Director of Human Resources Darlene Pianka. "In each building, you have a person who is the Title IX coordinator, a policy against sexual discrimination, and a procedure to address it, a grievance process" whereby all complaints are investigated. Ex-UConn Coach Jim Calhoun Accused Of Sex Discrimination, Fostering 'Boys Club' Atmosphere
Hall of Fame basketball coach Jim Calhoun has been accused of sex discrimination and of fostering a “boys club” in a lawsuit against the University of Saint Joseph, the Division III school where he now coaches. Jaclyn Piscitelli, a former athletic director at Saint Joseph, filed a lawsuit this week against the school in West Hartford, alleging Title IX violations, including claims against Calhoun.
