Traffic Alert: Cribari Bridge In Westport Work Scheduled A busy Fairfield County bridge that carries Route 136 over the Saugatuck River will be closed intermittently for repairs. Westport Police said state Department of Transportation officials will be working on the William Cribari Bridge between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. Friday, June 16 for repairs, said Lt. With temperatures expected to rise in the coming days, beaches in Westport, Norwalk, and Fairfield were forced to be closed to swimming as health officials deal with a weekend sewage leak. ID Released For Man Found Dead On Beach In Westport Police have identified a man whose body was found a beach in Westport. Gregory Garoffolo, 60, of Westport, was identified as the person found around 840 a.m., Thursday, May 9, by a Westport resident in the area of 132 Beachside Ave., who reported the incident to Westport police, said Westport Police Lt. Jillian Cabana. According to investigators, Garoffolo’s vehicle had been located on the I-95 Saugatuck River overpass during the early morning hours of Saturday, May 4 and was subsequently towed by the Connecticut State Police.  According to the Office of the Chief …

SUV Lands In Saugatuck River After Crashing Off Road An SUV landed in the Saugatuck River on Sunday night after it went off the road and down an embankment in Westport. The driver, who was able to get outside the vehicle, escaped without injury in the incident, which occurred around 10 p.m. on Ford Road. The SUV was resting on its side in the river when the Westport Fire Department arrived at the scene. The vehicle was secured and stabilized by the rescue company. Westport Police Officers Honored For Life-Saving Actions Two Westport police officers were honored last week for meritorious service by the Police Commissioners Association of Connecticut. Receiving the awards were Officers Samuel Sabin and David Scinto at the Meritorious Dinner held at the Grassy Hill Country Club in Orange on Wednesday, March 28.
