University of Alabama quarterback Bryce Young has been the consensus No. 1 pick in the 2023 NFL Draft from analysts and armchair general managers for months. But over the last week, Kentuck's Will Levis — a Newton, Massachusetts native who played high school football in Middletown, Connecticut — has been climbing draft boards to become one of football's hottest prospects. Fairfield County Goalkeeper, Two LIers Help US Women's Soccer Team Win World Cup Final
A goalkeeper from Fairfield County and two Long Island natives helped the United States win the FIFA Women's World Cup final 2-0 over the Netherlands on Sunday, July 7. Alyssa Naeher of Stratford picked up the shutout, playing the entire game. The two Long Islanders on the team are: Allie Long, a midfielder from Northport, and Crystal Dunn, a defender, from Rockville Centre. Video: Local Goalkeeper's Spectacular Save Helps US Women's Soccer Advance To World Cup Final
A spectacular late-game save by a goalkeeper from Fairfield County was one of the key plays in the United States women's national team's 2-1 victory over England on in the semifinals on Tuesday, July 2 in France.
