A Red Flag Warning is in effect for the area is at a risk for brush and forest fires. Conditions are ripe for a fire to break out, according to the National Weather Service, which issued the warning on Thursday. Basement Fire Damages Long Ridge Home
Residents in a Long Ridge home had to evacuate over the weekend when a fire broke out in a basement, sending smoke billowing through the house over the weekend. The Stamford Fire Department received a report at approximately 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 16, of dark black smoke that was spreading from the basement to the rest of the West Haviland Lane home. Crews from the Long Ridge Fire Company, Stamford and Turn of River Fire Departments responded to the home, with units arriving within 10 minutes of the initial report. The Norwalk Fire Department’s Fire Safety House has a new look thanks to the Kiwanis Club of Norwalk. The Kiwanis, who originally supplied the funding to purchase the camper more than 20 years ago, recently provided additional money so the trailer could get a new, modern look, said the Norwalk Fire Department. Morning Fire Severely Damages Milford Home
An early morning fire severely damaged a single family residence in Milford. Fire dispatchers received a 911 call around 3:55 a.m. Wednesday, March 6, reporting a fire in the single-story ranch-style home at 42 Windsong Lane in Milford, said Milford Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Anthony Fabrizi. Several people were displaced by a fire at a Norwalk apartment house. Norwalk firefighters were dispatched around 9 a.m.Sunday, March 3, to 20 Paradiso St., for a report of smoke coming from the house, said Norwalk Fire Department Deputy Chief Albe Bassett. Two Dogs Die During Monroe House Fire
Two dogs died and one firefighter suffered minor injuries during a house fire that broke out in Monroe early Wednesday morning. The fire started around 8 a.m., on lower Pepper Street, said Deputy Fire Chief Kevin Catalano. When firefighters arrived on the scene they found heavy fire and received reports of a possible person trapped inside, the chief said. A noontime fire damaged an apartment building in Milford, causing the occupants to be displaced and killing six bunnies on Wednesday, Feb. 20. Fire dispatchers received a 911 call at approximately 12:05 p.m. reporting a fire in the six-unit structure located at 51 Broadway, said Milford Fire Department Battalion Chief Anthony Fabrizi. Firefighters worked quickly to battle a blaze that broke out in an area apartment complex on Wednesday, forcing a temporary evacuation. First responders from the Milford Fire Department were dispatched to 51 Broadway at approximately 9:45 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 20, where there was a report of a fire, police said. A garage was partially destroyed by fire after the homeowner disposed of ashes from a wood-burning stove into a plastic recycling bin. The fire took place around 12:42 p.m. Monday at 169 Yale Ave., Milford, according to Milford Fire Department Battalion Chief Anthony Fabrizi. A Stratford family with four children were displaced following a fire at their two-story home. Home Destroyed In Trumbull Fire
An early morning fire on the second floor of a Trumbull home left the residence "unlivable." The Trumbull Fire Department responded to the fire around 2:15 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 27, at 14 Chatham Drive, the department said. The first firefighters on the scene confirmed an active fire on the second floor of the single family residential structure.
