Former Town Of Fairfield CFO Stole 'Fill Pile' Documents After Being Let Go, Police Say The former chief financial officer for the Town of Fairfield has been arrested for allegedly removing files connected to the fill pile controversy after his employment was terminated. Robert Mayer, 77, turned himself in to Fairfield Police on Friday, Jan. 31 and charged with burglary, larceny and tampering with evidence, said Fairfield Police Capt. Robert Kalamaras. Stratford Beaches Will Be Closed Friday Put away the bathing suits. The beaches in Stratford are closed Friday, June 29 for swimming due to all of the recent rain and concerns about bacteria. Town officials said the beaches are closed for precautionary measures after receiving more -than 1 inch of rain Thursday. Beaches can tentatively be re-opened on Saturday, June 30 providing the area does not receive more than 2 inches of rain within two days. Check back to Daily Voice for updates.
