Man Found Dead 12 Hours After Police Respond To Report Of Shots Fired, Bridgeport Police Say A Bridgeport man was found shot dead almost 12 hours after police responded to the area on a notification of shots fired. The incident took place in Bridgeport around 8:15 p.m., Wednesday, April 26 in the 100 block of Denver Avenue. According to Captain Kevin Gilleran of the Bridgeport Police, officers responded to the area on Wednesday after receiving a ShotSpotter notification. Once on the scene, officers collected several items of evidence, conducted interviews, canvassed the area, and documented their investigation, Gilleran said. Arrest Made In Beating Death Of Bridgeport Homeless Man Police have arrested a Bridgeport man for the alleged brutal beating death of a homeless person. The assault took place in Bridgeport around 9:15 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 11, in the 800 block of Fairfield Ave., said Scott Appleby, director of Emergency Management for Bridgeport. When officers arrived, they found the victim, 49-year-old Daniel Engeldrum, suffering from a head injury.
