New Canaan Students Prove They're Smart Thanks To 'Robust Curriculum And Instruction' New Canaan's "Smarter Balanced Assessment" results are the best in Connecticut. Jill Correnty, assistant superintendent of curriculum and instruction, presented the New Canaan Public Schools (NCPS) 2019 Student Assessment Results to the Board of Education (BOE) at a BOE meeting held on Oct. 21 at New Canaan High School.  Correnty reported that this year’s results of the Smarter Balanced Assessment, a state-required test given annually to students in grades 3 through 8, yielded some of the best scoring results to date.
