Crash On Main Street: Duo Charged With Stealing SUV From Driveway In Ridgefield
Two teens were charged with larceny after allegedly stealing an SUV out of a Fairfield County driveway. The incident took place in Ridgefield around 10:40 p.m., on Monday, May 22 on Nutmeg Ridge located off Branchville Road (Route 102). Capt. Jeff Raines of the Ridgefield Police said the department received a call reporting that several individuals were attempting to steal their car. A Fairfield County man killed in a single-vehicle crash was a highly-regarded investment manager in the area. Carl "Pepper" Whitbeck, age 43, of Ridgefield, was killed around 2 p.m., Thursday, July 29 during the crash on Branchville Road in Ridgefield. Man Killed After Vehicle Crashes Into Embankment In Fairfield County
A man was killed after his vehicle left the roadway and struck an embankment in Fairfield County. Carl Whitbeck, age 43, of Ridgefield, was killed around 2 p.m., Thursday, July 29 during the crash on Branchville Road in Ridgefield. According to Captain Shawn Platt, Whitbeck's vehicle was traveling east when it crossed over the westbound lane leaving the roadway. The vehicle then struck an embankment before coming to rest. Here's What New Restaurant Will Be Taking Over Little Pub Space In Ridgefield
A new restaurant is moving into the former Little Pub location at the Route 7/Branchville Road intersection in Ridgefield. It will be "English not French, a pub," the eatery's manager Josephine Sorena told Daily Voice and be called Marc's Place. The owner is Herve Aussavis who also owns Luc's Café in Ridgefield. Sorena said the opening will "hopefully be before summer." Road Closures Scheduled In Ridgefield During Ex-Chief's Funeral
With services scheduled for Ridgefield Police Chief John Roche on Friday, there will be road closures and delays for the funeral procession as it travels through town. Less than a week into his retirement following nearly four decades servicing the community, the former chief died last week. No cause of death has been released.
