After 46 years in public education, the last 10 as principal of Croton-Harmon High School, Alan Capasso has decided to retire at the end of the 2018-19 school year. Capasso will spend his retirement traveling with his wife of 45 years, Maria, and enjoying being a grandfather. New Canaan School District was named the "best school district" in Connecticut by 24/7 Wall St. The financial news and opinion company based in Delaware ranks Best School Districts in every state. The survey based its top ranking on New Canaan's per student spending of $22,023 and percent of adults with a bachelor's degree, at 77.7 percent. Its district enrollment is 4,201.
