The Bluefish will square off against the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs.
“I’m really thrilled to be a part of this day, and wish the Bluefish a successful 20th season,” Ganim said. “They are an attraction for our city and bring entertainment to families in Bridgeport and the surrounding towns. I am honored to be able to throw the first pitch.”
Unlike the usual Friday night match-ups, the inaugural 2017 game will start at 4:05 p.m., a special tribute to opening day in 1998. Gates open to the public at 3:05 p.m.
Bluefish General Manager Paul Hermann said he’s excited to begin the team’s first home stand of the season.
“We have a ton of new and exciting things to offer this year,” he said. “We’re also on track to welcome our four millionth fan to the ballpark early this season, which is another great milestone for our franchise.”
Special 20th anniversary pregame ceremonies will include Bluefish co-founder Mickey Herbert, former Bluefish General Manager Charlie Dowd and former Bluefish pitcher Mike Guilfoyle.
The first 500 fans to the ballpark will receive a Bluefish Schedule Poster, presented by the Connecticut Department of Transportation.
