The four honored seniors are Taylor Brown, Cherie Ann Extra, Jessica Lima, and Marelyn Maces.
All four are members of Today’s Students, Tomorrow’s Teachers, an organization that mentors high school students who express a desire to one day become teachers. TSTT is a unique program that gives high school students a head start in their preparation to join the noble profession.
Today’s Students Tomorrow’s Teachers have been servicing the students of Bassick, Central and Harding since 2008. In the spring of 2014, TSTT added John Winthrop Elementary School and in the fall Fairchild Wheeler Interdistrict Magnet High School to their list of partnered schools.
ALl four girls proudly represented the Connecticut region at TSTT’s 20th anniversary celebration last month at the Doubletree Hotel in Tarrytown, N.Y.
Teacher Ann Murphy from Bridgeport Central High also attended the celebration. Murphy was honored for her fifth year of participation in the TSTT program as a teacher-mentor. She gives invaluable assistance to TSTT students by overseeing and guiding the students through the TSTT curriculum.
