Bridgeport Rep. Stafstrom Urges General Assembly To Keep Funding For Cities

HARTFORD, Conn. -- State Rep. Steve Stafstrom (D-Bridgeport) recently joined with other big-city legislators and mayors to push for the General Assembly to continue committing state aid to Bridgeport and other big cities.

"Strong and vibrant central cities are critical to Connecticut's economic competitiveness and growth in the 21st Century economy," Stafstrom said. "As we work to balance our state's budget we must make sure we do not do so on the backs of our property taxpayers."

In their efforts to retain funding, the legislators and mayors emphasized their cities' positions as important regional centers.
