Police Officer Seriously Injured After Car Overturns On Route 8

A 40-year-old local police officer was critically injured Thursday after losing control of his vehicle and crashing on Route 8 in Shelton.

Justin LoSchiavo, of Derby, a Stratford police officer, was traveling in the left lane of three on Route 8 in Shelton around 4:26 p.m. when his 2017 Audi A4 Quattro, continued to veer to the left, went into the grassy median struck trees, rolled over and came to rest on the driver's side, said the Connecticut State Police.

LoSchiavo sustained critical injuries and was transported to St. Vincent's Hospital, state police said. 

The crash caused lane closures and traffic delays for more than two hours.
