In the past three weeks, the Statewide Urban Violence Cooperative Crime Control Task Force — which includes members of Connecticut State Police and Bridgeport Police Department — executed two search-and-seizure warrants, police said in a statement.

One bust was made in an apartment across the street from the courthouse, and the other in a "stash house" located just blocks from an elementary school, police said.

In the first incident, the task force arrested Rashaad Haynes, a 23-year-old with a "history of narcotics sales," on Nov. 21 and executed a search warrant on his apartment on 225 Golden Hill St., police said. The apartment is across the street from Bridgeport Superior Court, around the corner from City Hall and about two blocks from Bridgeport police headquarters.

The task force had made contact with Haynes and set up a meeting for him to deliver narcotics, police said. As Haynes arrived to deliver the drugs, a short foot chase ensued and he was arrested, police said.

Officers then entered the apartment and found two adults and two children, ages 1 and 4, police said.

A searched turned up 3.6 grams of crack cocaine, packaging materials and a scale. Police also seized three illegal weapons: a .32-caliber revolver, a .45-caliber 1911 semiautomatic and a .45-caliber HiPoint semiautomatic, police said.

Haynes was charged with possession of narcotics with intent to sell, criminal possession of ammunition, two counts of obliterated firearm, operating a drug factory, three counts of unlawful possession of a firearm, two counts of risk of injury and interfering with an officer. He was held on $250,000 bond.

The Department of Children and Families was notified, and the children were turned over to their father.

In the second incident, the task force and officers from Bridgeport’s Emergency Services Unit served a search and seizure warrant Thursday at 76 Fourth St., a home that police described as a "known gang hangout."

Large amounts of marijuana were also being sold from the house, police said.

Officers found a man, a woman and a 3-year-old child inside the home, and a search turned up over 2 pounds of marijuana, packaging material, scales, ecstasy pills, cough syrup known as “lean,” U.S. currency and six illegal firearms, police said.

Four of those six guns were confirmed to be stolen, police said. Numerous rounds of live ammunition and extra magazines, one of which held 30 live rounds, were found in a bedroom, police said.

“Task force members refer to a house with this amount of illegal contraband as a ‘stash house’ used by gang members to hide their illegal items,” a police statement said. The house is about four blocks from Dunbar Elementary School and the Newfield Branch of the Bridgeport Public Library.

The person sought by police was not home at the time, but police applied for an arrest warrant.

The man found in the house, identified as Isiah Yarborough, 34, was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana with intent to sell, possession of marijuana with intent to sell within 1,500 feet of Dunbar Elementary School and operating a drug factory. He was released on $5,000 bond.
