Saydie Ramos, 4, loves police officers and her dad, Alex, couldn’t resist when he saw a child's-sized uniform for sale.
He bought the suit, but he thought it would be even more fun if one of the city’s finest presented it to Saydie.
He put out the call on Facebook and one of Officer Sandy Gonzalez-Quinonez’s relatives tagged her.
“He told me how much Saydie loved police officers including women police officers,” Gonzalez-Guinonez posted on the Bridgeport Police Community Services Division Facebook page. “He told me she would be so excited to meet a real woman police officer in person.
“I told Alex I would be happy to do this for his little angel.”
On Sept. 7, Gonzalez-Quinonez stepped it up a notch, enlisting Lt. Charles Johnson and Officers Jonathan Simmons and John Cholakian to drive up to Saydie’s house, lights flashing and sirens blaring.
“Saydie walked down the stairs and she gave me such a bit hug,” Gonzalez-Quinonez wrote. “I have her the package and when she opened it she saw her police uniform and had such a big smile.
“You, missy, made my night!!!! I had a terrible afternoon, but you changed that for me tonight.”
Gonzalez-Quinonez thanked Ramos for letting her be a part of his little girl’s surprise. “This is why I still love my job,” she said.
