BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — A pedestrian was killed and four others critically injured Monday morning in a two-car crash on Huntington Turnpike near the corner of Priscilla Street in Bridgeport, according to Police Capt. Robert Evans.
Shylane Michelle Crooks, 50, of Bridgeport, was crossing Huntington Turnpike from a nearby shopping center around 11:30 a.m. when she was struck by a 2017 BMW 430 xi traveling north on Huntington, Evans said.
After striking Crooks, the 41-year-old Trumbull woman driving the BMW veered to the right and struck a tree and a 2004 Honda CRV that was exiting a gas station, Evans said.
The Honda carried three Bridgeport residents.
Crooks was taken to Bridgeport Hospital and pronounced dead at 12:01 p.m.
The BMW driver was also taken to Bridgeport Hospital, where she was listed in critical condition with severe head and facial injuries, Evans said.
The occupants of the Honda are listed in critical condition at St. Vincent’s Medical Center, he said.
Members of the Southern Fairfield County Traffic Unit assisted Bridgeport at the crash scene.
The Bridgeport Serious Crash Investigation Team is conducting a full investigation with Bridgeport Officer Michael Falbo as the lead investigator, Harris said.
