Pair Behind Bars As Bridgeport Task Force Stop Yields Firearms, Fentanyl, Heroin

The bust went down on Monday when Bridgeport Task Force members working an ongoing investigation conducted a traffic stop on Chopsey Hill Road, said Av Harris, spokesman for the Bridgeport Police Department.

The operator and front seat passenger were identified as Isaac Peoples and Rondell Williams, both of Bridgeport.

During the stop, Peoples attempted to flee from the driver’s seat but was detained. Williams who remained in the vehicle continued to move about the front compartment even as officers were ordering him to stop, Harris said.

Once both men were detained, officers saw in plain view a semi-auto firearm on the driver’s floor. A search of the vehicle turned up a second illegal firearm that was also tucked under the driver’s seat. Both firearms were loaded and accessible to both Peoples and Williams. 

Both parties are convicted felons and have no legal right to possess firearms and or ammunition, Harris added.

Harris said a search of Peoples' apartment at 35 Essex St., officers uncovered approximately 500 plus grams of heroin/fentanyl, thousands of empty glassine folds, a grinder, a scale, sifters, and stamps.

Williams was charged with two counts weapons in a motor vehicle, two counts of criminal possession of a firearm and criminal possession of ammunition, interfering and two counts of carrying a pistol without a permit. He is being held on $150,000 bail.

Peoples was charged with two counts weapon in a vehicle, two counts criminal possession of a firearm plus criminal possession of ammunition, interfering and two counts carrying a pistol without a permit. Bond was set at $250,000.

Peoples was also charged with possession with intent to sell/third offense, operating a drug factory and possession with intent without 1,500 feet of a school. Bond for the additional charges was set at $250,000
