According to state police, Jordan Isaac Smith, 28, of New Haven, was stopped for speeding when officers discovered crack cocaine and a handgun in the car. As police continued investigating, it was discovered that Smith had provided a false name and date of birth because he had two outstanding warrants for his arrest.
Smith was arrested for operating a motor vehicle on a suspended or revoked license; speeding; possession of a controlled substance; carrying a pistol without a permit; possession of weapons in a vehicle; possession of large capacity magazine; fifth-degree larceny; criminal impersonation, criminal possession of a defense weapon and criminal possession of a pistol or revolver, police said.
He was also charged with violation of probation and first-degree failure to appear.
Smith is being held on $155,000 cash or surety bond and was taken to Bridgeport Superior Court for a same-day arraignment.
