Police in Bridgeport and Stratford were investigating the two deaths and any connections between them, according to a statement from police spokesman William Kaempffer.

On Monday, police investigating the disappearance of Minnie Lincoln, a 57-year-old Bridgeport woman, located human remains in a marshy area behind an industrial building on Watson Boulevard in Stratford, Kaempffer said.

Bridgeport and Stratford Police, with the assistance of the Connecticut State Police and the FBI, had been investigating her disappearance since she was reported missing March 31, he said.

The remains have not been identified pending an autopsy by the medical examiner’s office, Kaempffer said. But the Connecticut Post reports that it is Lincoln's remains.

Monday evening, police returned to the Stratford home of Marcus Jackson, 36. He was a person of interest in the disappearance of Lincoln, who was last seen with Jackson on March 27 as they were leaving the Old Timers Club at 1296 Stratford Ave. in Bridgeport.

As officers knocked on his door, they heard a gunshot, Kaempffer said. Jackson was found dead inside the house from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, he said.

“This is a horrible episode and our thoughts go out to the communities in Bridgeport and Stratford,” said Bridgeport Mayor Bill Finch. “Police have worked tirelessly trying to find and bring Minnie home. But there is information we do not yet know. Detectives are continuing to search for those answers.”

Police Chief Joseph Gaudett Jr. said Bridgeport and Stratford police worked seamlessly together in the investigation with the assistance of CSP and the FBI.

Lincoln was last seen at 11:12 p.m. after she left the Old Timers Club. She was escorted out by Jackson, the owner of the building, Kaempffer said. They were last seen walking together to Jackson’s truck, a Ford F150 pickup. The truck was last seen traveling south on Wilmot Avenue, Kaempffer said.

Detectives investigating the disappearance spoke with Jackson and other witnesses and reviewed hours of security footage from the area, he said.

The results of the investigation led police to the Stratford site, Kaempffer said.

Police will remain at the location overnight and resume processing the crime scene Tuesday.
