Lawsuit Accuses Bridgeport Detective Of Sending Unwanted Sexual Messages

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — A Bridgeport woman is suing the detective who investigate a burglary at her home after she said he sent her sexually explicit text messages, according to the Connecticut Post.

The woman had reported in 2014 that a female acquaintance had stolen items from her home, and Bridgeport Police Detective David Garcia followed up with the investigation and would periodically contact her with information about the case, the Connecticut Post reported. The woman's lawsuit alleges that in March 2016 he began sending her sexually explicit messages, which she said were unprovoked an unwanted, according to the Connecticut Post.

The lawsuit was filed in the U.S. District Court in Bridgeport, and does not seek specific monetary damages, the Connecticut Post reported. Bridgeport Police Chief AJ Perez confirmed to the Connecticut Post that the city's Office of Internal Affairs is investigating. The Connecticut Post reported that it was not able to reach Garcia, an 18-year veteran of the department, for comment.

The lawsuit says the woman was frightened by the texts, and that they caused anxiety and stress, the Connecticut Post reported.
