The celebration began as Hernandez received a proclamation from Mayor Bill Finch and the Bridgeport Police Department. Hernandez then walked the grounds on Nightmare, the horse, with Seargeant Norton as her guide.
After a hard day's work, Hernandez, her mother and Bridgeport Police Chief Joseph Gaudett Jr. enjoyed a pizza party at Famous Pizza, where she was presented with her second wish: a trip to Disney World on Aug. 15.
The event were supported from public safety departments, including: Bridgeport Police Department; Bridgeport Police Emergency Services Unit; Connecticut Department of Correction; Connecticut State Police; Connecticut State Police Explorers; Connecticut Police Department; Danbury Police Department; New York Sheriff’s Department Dutchess County; New York Sheriff’s Department Emergency Services Unit; Fairfield Police Department; Greenwich Police Department; Hartford Police Department; Lakewood, N.J., Police Department; Paulsboro, N.J., Police Department; Peapack and Gladstone, N.J., Police Department; Puerto Rico Integrated Protection Unit; Sansom Park, Texas, Police Department; Windsor Locks Police Department; EMS Peapack and Gladstone EMS Volunteer Unit Fire Department; Peapack and Gladstone Fire Department; and Waterbury Fire Department Engine 4.
Hernandez will also receive gifts from the Connecticut State Police, the Waterbury Fire Department Engine 4, and the Connecticut Department of Emergency Management and Homeland Security.
