Edwards, a mother of two, was at home with her family, including her mother when she was shot and killed by a barrage of gunfire that flew through the second-story window, according to ABC News 7.
Police said the 36-year-old was killed just before 8 p.m. at the house on William Street in Bridgeport.
Arriving officers found the victim, Edwards, on the second floor with at least one gunshot wound to the torso. and began CPR until she was transported to Bridgeport Hospital, where she was pronounced dead, police said.
Relatives told ABC News 7 that the son had an ex-girlfriend who had come to the house earlier in the evening, causing a problem with more than 20 people gathering in the street.
The news channel said the girlfriend had threatened "I'll be back" via a text message.
Police declined to confirm Edwards name until an autopsy was completed on Wednesday.
