Louie Gangcuangco, 31, had been charged with fourth-degree sexual assault last November. A 53-year-old male patient had reported that he had been sexually assaulted by Gangcuangco following open heart surgery at Bridgeport Hospital. He also told police that Gangcuangco had called him up afterwards and invited him to dinner.
Gangcuangco is no longer employed at the hospital and his visa had expired, forcing him to return to his native Philippines, according to the Connecticut Post. While appearing in court on Tuesday, a judge granted him accelerated rehabilitation, the Connecticut Post reported. He did not plead guilty but was instead placed on a one-year probation, and will see his charges dropped if he does not commit another crime during that time, according to the Connecticut Post.
