Drunk Driving Deaths Down In Connecticut But State Still Among Highest

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. — Connecticut is the fifth highest ranking state in the percentage of traffic deaths involving alcohol, although drunk-driving fatalities are on the decline, reports the ctpost.com.

Statistics compiled by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration indicate 39 percent of the 248 Connecticut vehicle accident deaths involved intoxicated drivers, according to the ctpost.com.

Texas, North Dakota and Massachusetts, had rates of 41 percent and Delaware, 40 percent. Vermont had the lowest rate, at 20 percent, reports the ctpost.com.

The number of crashes involving alcohol-impaired drivers decreased in Connecticut, from 114 in 2013 to 97, a 15 percent drop, according to the ctpost.com.
