The State of Connecticut's emergency notification system alerts residents anywhere in the state about life-threatening emergency conditions.
You can get emergency alerts sent to you on any communication method you use, such as your cell phone, e-mail, text message, or certain hearing impaired receiving devices, just by providing your information, and keeping it updated on the CT Alert website.
The reminder comes on the heels of a statewide Amber Alert when a 7-year-old boy from Trumbull was kidnapped by his father and safely recovered.
As land lines and 911 data continue to shrink, internal resources are limited and emergency managers need to be able to deliver sensitive, critical information while local public agencies need to make sure their residents are informed of information that impacts their daily lives, such as missing persons or festival updates, according to Connecticut State Police.
