Officers were called to the scene at 6:49 a.m. on a report of a baby not breathing, according to a police statement. A short time later, the apartment was declared a crime scene.
“The 14-month-old-female patient was transported by medics to the hospital for treatment,” police spokesman Capt. Brian Fitzgerald said in the statement. “This female unfortunately was pronounced deceased at the hospital.”
The Bridgeport Police Detective Bureau is actively investigation the incident, and the scene on the 600-block of Sylvan Avenue is being processed for evidence, police said.
