Carlos Torres, 21, was arrested after a chase that saw police get help from a pickup truck driver on Williams Street.

Torres was spotted on East Washington Avenue going east on a bicycle, and officers continued to tail him in an unmarked car. He got off the bicycle on Knowlton Street, and dropped the backpack he was carrying. The backpack contained a semi-automatic firearm.

Officers proceeded to follow him on foot, missing him with their Tasers. A citizen offered one officer the use of his pickup truck when the chase moved onto Williams Street, allowing the officer to ride on the bumper.

The chase ended as the parties moved on East Washington Street, as Torres was apprehended north on Harriet Street.

Torres was charged with criminal possession of a weapon, interfering with an officer, resisting arrest, carrying a pistol without a permit, illegal sale/distribution of a firearm, and tampering with physical evidence.
